Terms of Service
These terms set out the basis on which I work with clients in Woking, Guildford, and online. They apply from the point you book an initial appointment.
Session length and frequency
Standard sessions last 50 minutes and are scheduled for the same time each week. By arrangement, some clients prefer 90-minute sessions for deeper trauma processing work, though this is never a requirement.
Therapy is open-ended. There is no fixed number of sessions on my side. We review the work together as we go, and it concludes when one of us feels the timing is right to end.
Fees and payment
Current fees for sessions in Woking, Guildford, and online are set out on the Location & Fees page.
The first appointment is paid by bank transfer at the time of booking. Subsequent sessions can be paid by bank transfer or cash; I no longer accept card payments. Bank transfers are due the day before the session.
I occasionally offer limited concessions for trainee therapists and those in financial difficulty. This is negotiated before the initial consultation.
I am a registered practitioner with BUPA, AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna, Allianz Worldwide Care, Healix, and Vitality Health, and can invoice these insurers directly if you are covered for my services. I can also provide invoices for other insurers so you can claim back the fees. Please check what your own policy covers.
Cancellations
This is a weekly rolling contract, not a fixed course of sessions. If you need to cancel or change an appointment: the full fee applies to cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment, a 50% fee applies to cancellations made with 2 to 6 days’ notice, and there is no fee for cancellations made with a week’s notice or more.
To end therapy, I ask for a minimum of one week’s notice so we can bring the work to a close together.
Confidentiality
What you bring to sessions is confidential, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework I work to. The exceptions are where I have serious concern for your safety or the safety of others, or where I am required by law to disclose information, for example in response to a court order.
I receive regular clinical supervision as part of safe and ethical practice. Supervision is confidential and does not identify clients by name.
If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy with any part of the work, please tell me directly in the first instance. If we cannot resolve it between us, my Complaints Procedure page sets out the external routes available to you.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version always applies to ongoing and future sessions.
