Ethics Statement
My work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, as required by my accredited membership of the BACP (registration 217377).
The framework’s principles
The framework sets out six core principles: being trustworthy, respecting client autonomy, working for client wellbeing (beneficence), avoiding harm (non-maleficence), fairness (justice), and maintaining my own self-respect and fitness to practise.
Alongside these, it asks practitioners to bring personal qualities such as candour, care, courage, empathy, fairness, humility, integrity, resilience, and wisdom to the work.
Supervision
I receive regular clinical supervision, as the framework requires, to support safe and ethical practice and to keep my work accountable.
Confidentiality and its limits
What is shared in sessions is treated as confidential. The exceptions are a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s, or a legal requirement to disclose. These limits are also set out in my Terms of Service.
Continuing development
I am trained in EMDR, attachment-focused EMDR, and Deep Brain Reorienting, and continue to develop my practice in line with BACP’s continuing professional development requirements.
