About Craig Coventry
MBACP (Accred), MA, BSC.
When looking for an experienced counsellor, it is important that you feel confident that the person you choose is right for you. Of course, there are a few things to take into consideration: the location, cost, availability and what time you can set aside each week. But it is also important that you feel reassured that the counsellor you are working with is professional, qualified and experienced to work with the difficulties you want to work through in therapy.
I have experience in working with individuals covering a variety of different problems. Including difficulties such as: depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, sexual abuse, relationship difficulties, bereavement, addictions, self-harm and suicidal ideations, anger, complex trauma and several other issues.
I also have experience in working within colleges and in young person’s services within organisational settings (ages 16+).
In my clinical work with clients, I work using the Person-Centred approach to therapy, placing each individual client at the centre of their own therapy. I also integrate other therapeutic approaches into that framework to remain flexible to the individual client’s needs.
In addition to my clinical experience in one to one therapy, I also have several years’ experience working voluntarily for addiction support groups where I held regular groups and then later worked in the groups’ management committees for the London and surrounding area.
About Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy is there for you to process the difficulties you are going through, with a professional who understands how help you connect with yourself and explore your thinking and emotional processes in a manner which aids healing and personal growth. As a primarily Humanistic therapist, my approach is to help you find your own path to healing rather than to dictate and “give you the answers”. I do believe that we all have the answers we need inside us, however, from time to time we need help clearing the mist, pain and confusion which can occur in anyone’s life. I do, depending on the problems at hand, integrate other approaches to therapy to help build resilience and stability so that this type of therapy is possible. Other therapies include EMDR, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, elements of Cognitive Therapy, elements of Psychodynamic Theory and also use Grounding and Mindfulness based approaches.
